چکیده

The emergence of Software-Defined Networking (SDN) and Network Function Virtualization (NFV) has revolutionized the Internet. Using SDN, network devices can be controlled from a centralized, programmable control plane that is decoupled their data plane, whereas with NFV, functions (such as address translation, firewall, intrusion detection) virtualized instead being implemented on proprietary hardware. In addition, Artificial Intelligence (AI) Machine Learning (ML) techniques will key to automating operations enhancing customer service. Many challenges behind SDN NFV are currently investigated in several projects all over world using AI ML techniques, such AI- software-based networking, autonomic policy-based management. Contributions this Special Issue come above areas research. Following rigorous review process, four excellent articles were accepted go beyond many mentioned above.

Software defined networking and network function virtualization

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Telecommunications Infrastructure (FTI) network is an essential component for the day-to-day FAA mission. In this digital era where quick access to information is essential, the FTI network has grown significantly and is used to transport data, services, and information for the National Airspace System (NAS). Whether the follow-on network FTI-2 is compl...

Software-defined networking based network virtualization for mobile operators

Software-Defined Networking (SDN) paradigm provides many features including hardware abstraction, programmable networking and centralized policy control. One of the main benefits used along with these features is core/backhaul network virtualization which ensures sharing of mobile core and backhaul networks among Mobile Operators (MOs). In this paper, we propose a virtualized SDN-based Evolved ...

Software Defined Networking and Network Function Virtualization: bridging the world of virtual networks

Software Defined Networking (SDN) and Network Function Virtualization (NFV) are two emerging and complementary concepts that can be considered as key players in the virtual networks world. In particular, SDN allows managing different network services through abstraction of higher-level functionality, while NFV leverages the use of virtualization technologies to virtualize specific network funct...

Improving Network Management with Software Defined Networking

Network Management is very challenging. The Maintenance, operating and providing a secured communication network is very complex. It requires the network operators to grapple low-level vendor specific configurations to implement the high level network policies which are complex. The rigidity of underlying infrastructure presents few possibilities of improvement or innovation, since network devi...
